THE WIZARD OF NEW ZEALAND
He came from up over
Down to down under
Bringing the revolution
The revolution of fun
He is old with a beard
Well what did you expect?
He nearly shaved it off once
With not some little regret
He was a hit on campus
He would do almost anything
Regardless of any consequence
Or the trouble it would bring
There was the thing with the bath
Well what was up with that?
To jump from any great height
He would have ended up flat
Wiz, wiz, wiz, wiz, wiz
The Wizard of New Zealand
So down to New Zealand
On a special passport
To take up permanent residence
And provide some food for thought
He stood up in front of the church
With God on his telephone
A striking Christ-like resemblance
Inside they could only groan
Then there was that silly blue
Over the phone boxes
Though red may encourage violence
It is just not the same
You need an army of followers
To stay ahead in this game
It has really amazed me
That he does not rule the earth
Well he is a miracle
A miracle in a pointed hat
He is a miracle
So what do you think of that?
All over the world
All over the world I say
There are a great many wizards
To keep the world at bay
I read all about this man
In his nifty little book
There’re a great many pictures you see
I really advise you to take a look
So now we are drawing to an end
Of the greatest story ever penned
I advise you all to find out more
Not doing so would be a bore
He is the birdman
The rain dancer wiz
He is the showman
His spells are so wiz
He is a no man
A living work of art
With a beard like a nest
He’ll put the world to the test

The Bee Song

THE BEE SONG
Pumping the metal was not enough
For we slammed hard we slammed rough
Splintered wood sent the boxes free
We were stuck fast oh golly-o gee
They were in a tizz there was no doubt
Then I realised who would have to go out
We laughed at this though I knew it would hurt
Then I stepped outside in my Psycroptic t-shirt
So dot my I’s and cross my T’s
Look out for those swarming bees
Those swarming bees those swarming bees
Look out for those swarming bees
Pity you don’t smoke he did say
It’s the smoke you see that keeps them at bay
I stood on the hive and pulled all I could
He revved away but it was no good
I could feel them all now getting into my clothes
In the plaits of my hair just why Hell knows
So I gave up and ran and called out WEE
Crushing them all dead they were chasing after me
I have run with the swarm
Killing them in the cold, cold grey dawn
We left so soon in the morn
So no one would know I had run with the swarm

Ophelia

OPHELIA
Ophelia my dear what have you done?
The fire is burning low and there is no one to stoke it now
I know what you must have been thinking I can make a guess
She meant nothing to me oh if only you could have seen
We both could have simply stayed in bed you know
Think how much better our day would have been
But I love you and that’s what counts in this world
Get ready to leave Ophelia
So that we might hide from the world
Ophelia so silly-a
By the light of the kitchen fire
More deadly-a in the dawny-a
Oh my dear what have you just done?
Not the poker, not the poker…
Ophelia you are quite ill what can I say?
But even so the sun has come out on us today
Why don’t you put it down dear and you and I shall go away
If we are quick before anyone comes you shall not have to pay
Dawn is fast turning to day so we must not make delay
People may be coming to call on our poor kitchen maid
The butcher usually comes around now the baker’s boy too
If we do not go soon dear I fear I will not know what to do

TAKEN BY STONES (ELENORE’S SONG)
Come a little closer she said
So that I may tell you of the stones
Those stones that are up on the hill
One night as I was coming back from my Aunt Sal’s
I heard a sound like the lovemaking of the wind
It called to me as if it would surely die
My mother always told me strange things lived up there
Things you never wanted never wanted to meet
Taken by the stones
That night she heard them speak
What they are she does not know
But the wind it sang her name
They found her on top of the hill
As grey as the stones themselves
They knew she had heard the wind
The wind that sings your name
It brings you to the stones
After that you will never die
When I reached the top of the hill
The wind it left suddenly it did die
Clouds came from nowhere and darkened the sky
My mind was not my own but I didn’t care
Then I saw them speak through the runes
They shone like they were singing in the dark
I could not read them though I tried
But I knew what they were saying even so

A Lady Waits By the Sea

A LADY WAITS BY THE SEA
In the mornings I see
A lady
She haunts the cliffs by the sea
The lady
Why does she stand there?
This lady
She waits for her sailor love
She could be any lady
But his ship went down
Years ago
More years than she
Could be alive
What I spy on grey mornings
Comes under
Supernatural skies
That thick veil of mist
Coming up from the cliffs
It screens her from me
And her from him
Could the mist be her tears?
Could the mist be her tears?

I’ll sing an anthem and I’ll be damned
I’ll sing an anthem for the Devil’s band
Will my will to power send me to Hell?
Given the other option I may as well
Lucifer your world is dying
Like a tree with no inside
Rotting toward an age of nothing
Burn the bridge and go and hide
I’m one of them oh that I am
A satanic heart from boy to man
The Devil shouts back but oh so quietly
Will it all be in vain just wait and see
With sin on her fingers and bells on her toes
She shall live life wherever she goes

I carry my cross like an alabaster mountain
So many have flown so many have known
I move in fright
There are too many stars at night

THE BAMBOOZLING OF MR. HOLMES
In Cottingly
In Yorkshire
They are
At the bottom of the garden
Across the ‘beck’
Camera in hand
With the hat pins
A flower for Elsie
They sit so close
And dance about
On little strings?
By the oaks in the dell
Fairies
With and without
With and without
With and without wings
The bottom of the garden
Where the children play
The floor of the nursery
Glue and scissors lay
Bamboozled by our Elsie
At the bottom of her class
Like ‘A Spell for a Fairy’
Mr. Holmes you let them pass
Oh Mr. Holmes
Oh Mr. Holmes
They may be cut outs
But we’re as real as gnomes
Little men
In green
And women too
Hop upon their dresses
Frances
Had really
Had really seen them
So had nothing to retract
Now then
As a child
Of ten years old
Can you keep a secret?
But a they
Look a so
Paper and scissors
They look so fake to me
So they wrote
Several books
One of them was called
The Coming of the Fairies
What does one
Make of it
Wouldn’t you agree
It’s all very peculiar
But it’s odd
To look in
Princess Mary’s
Princess Mary’s Gift Book
Frances said
In ‘81
Three of them are fake
But the last one is genuine

Weeping to Lucifer

WEEPING TO LUCIFER
Weeping, weeping, weeping to my Lucifer
About how I realized I had lost my girl
When listening to Bing Crosby
I had a letter out of the blue
What was I to do?
What was I to do?
I thought that I had forgotten but no
She was something I could not forget
I like those sorts of girls
The ones like Kate Bush
Because she is beautiful
I could not help myself
She said it was a mistake
To let me spend the night with her
That hurt me more than I can show
But it is I who should blame myself
Did I not take Bing off the turntable?
If only I could make her see
The pain that she causes me
But not so it hurt her
Oh so grateful I would be
Weeping, weeping, weeping to my Lucifer
About how I had lost my girl
I know that I must forget
Let it die and don’t regret
Although I must walk away
I am empty of pain
I can feel myself falling
But not falling out of…
Weeping, weeping, weeping to my Lucifer
About how I realized I had lost my girl
Bonk-e-d-bonk-e-d-bonk-e-d-bonk
Bonk-e-d-bonk-e-d-bonk-e-d-bonk

LITTLE CHEEKS
She’s quite big of heart that’s what they say
Our girl don’t mind it in a stack of hay
A gnome of distinction and great renown
From the wooded hill to all over the town
She’s a bit of a wonder says mayor Peeks
So they call her little cheeks
Up and down the countryside
She will take you for a ride
What do you call a land sailor?
You can’t call her a blackmailer
A thimble full of golden dreams
Motoring off behind love beams
The sailor and the whore of Murld
Were going off to see the world
They were as happy as they could be
So listen to their final plea
The next time that you start to moan
Go for that golden goblin groan
Well she fell in love with a sailor named Can
He arrived on a ship made from an old tin can
Later that night she showed him it all
Completely naked and half a foot tall
So they leave our tale in a car made of bark
Their love shines forward off into the dark

DEAD ROSES CALL / POP FOR SATAN
Girl
Do you wanna change the world?
Girl
You wanna change your life?
Girl
Then step on over here
Girl
And pay someone to take up the knife
What they do you should do
I know someone you can give your cherry to
So you wanna be thought of as hot
He’ll make you too hot to handle
I’ll make you look like an explosion
Chorus:
Pop
Pop for Satan
Pop
If you’re no one join my musical flock
Pop
Pop for Satan
Pop
And if you’re not we’ll turn back the clock
Pop
Pop for Satan
Pop
Insecurity is what I feed on
Pop
Pop for Satan
Pop
You girl come a dime a dozen
Baby, why don’t you come on over here
And start a new life with Popanism
He’ll steal your heavy metal thunder
And make you look like an explosion
